Office of Suicide Prevention
The office of suicide prevention was created and approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2023. This office is an expansion of the Department of Behavioral Health’s prevention and early intervention efforts. This administrative office will focus on education about suicide prevention with a message of hope and resources. For more information on this please visit the Office of Suicide Prevention website.
School Age Treatment
$10.2 million: The department plans to use Medi-Cal and Realignment funding towards the expansion of its school age treatment services to support more intensive care coordination for children and youth.
2nd District Impact:
The two Community Based Organization serving the Second and Fourth District Residents are South Coast Community Services located at 1425 W. Foothill Blvd. #300 in Upland and Westend Family Counseling Services located at 855 N. Euclid Ave., in Ontario. They will be providing expanded Specialty Mental Health Services including rehabilitation services, case management, and therapy services.
Adult Step-Down Transition from State Hospital
$26.3 million: The department plans to use Medi-Cal, Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), and Realignment funding to expand adult residential contract services to provide more appropriate residential settings with additional specialty mental health treatment options for adults.
2nd District Impact:
The Community Based Organization serving the Second District is Helping Hearts California, LLC located at 747 N. Euclid Avenue in Ontario.
Multi-Dimensional Anti Recidivism Partnership
$1.3 million: Fund screening and linkage to behavioral health and substance use disorder services to probationers.
2nd District Impact:
The San Bernardino County Probation Department is recommending to use Public Safety Realignment funds for the Regional Multi-Dimensional Anti Recidivism Partnership (MAP) throughout the county. The site locations have not been designated yet, however, once established will serve multiple regions throughout the county. The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) will provide supportive services.
Residential Treatment and Substance Use Expansion
$8.3 million: Funding will be used to expand contracted residential treatment services and substance use disorder services countywide.
2nd District Impact:
Expansion of current contracted residential treatment services include 322 additional annual treatment episodes for residents of San Bernardino County. Residential treatment services are provided by six (6) Community Based Organizations with a site serving the Second District, which is: Inland Valley Recovery Services located at 1260 E. Arrow Hwy. in Upland.
Mobile Medication Outreach & Client Transportation Services
$0.9 million: new mobile medication outreach and client transportation service program to support prevention, treatment, and wellness to county residents experiencing substance use disorders.
2nd District Impact:
Transportation services will reduce barriers to care for residents in need of Substance Use Disorder services and support treatment engagement, continued participation and completion. DBH has an outpatient clinic in the 2nd District where vehicles will be housed and utilized by clinic staff to support care to residents. This expansion includes a mobile RV that will service all residents of San Bernardino County.
Early Intervention Program Expansions
$6.0 million: $3.4 million to serves children 0-5 years old who are known to victims of abuse or neglect.
$2.6 million to serve veterans, African American Children, and Family Resources centers with early engagement.
2nd District Impact:
- One Community Based Organizations will serve 2nd and 4th District residents providing Specialty Mental Health Services and other supportive services for very young residents. Residents in this program receive rehabilitation services, case management, and therapy when appropriate.
- Prevention and Early Intervention services are available to all residents of San Bernardino County. This expansion will increase direct services to African American families residing in the communities of Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga and provide additional access points to mental health services for all residents in the 2nd.
At Risk of Homelessness Support
$1.5 million: Will use Full Service Partnerships (FSPs) to support adult clients at-risk of homelessness and to reduce hospital readmittance.
2nd District Impact:
One Community Based Organizations will serve 2nd, 4th and 5th District residents providing Specialty Mental Health Services and other supportive services within the context of a Full-Service Partnership (FSP). Residents in this program receive psychiatric care, rehabilitation services, case management, and therapy when appropriate. The Homeless FSP includes Permanent Supportive Housing supports and will serve all residents of San Bernardino County.
Expansion of Telehealth Services
$2.2 million: Used towards the purchase of technology equipment to expand telehealth services for clinics serving the high desert and west valley.
2nd District Impact:
The expanded telehealth infrastructure and services will be dedicated to DBH clinics located in the High Desert and West Valley regions including in the city of Fontana in the 2nd.
